About Us

Founded in 1928, the Parsippany District 5 Fire Department has been serving eastern Parsippany for more than 90 years.  We are an all-volunteer fire department with a current membership of approximately 35 men and women utilizing two fire houses for response.  The firehouses are home to 1 aerial, 2 engines, 1 Rescue Unit, 1 Hazmat Unit, 1 High Water Vehicle, 1 Foam Tender, 1 Utility Vehicle, and 2 Boats.

Due to the ever changing needs of our community, our members are highly trained and certified in numerous areas including:

  • Structural Firefighting
  • Hazardous Materials (Operations/Technician Levels)
  • Swift Water Rescue (Operations/Technician Levels)
  • Ice Rescue (Operations/Technician Levels)
  • Industrial Foam Firefighting
  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Emergency Medical Responder

The Parsippany District 5 Fire Department is proud to be part of the Morris County UASI Foam Task Force housing one of two county foam tankers.  In addition, we house our own Hazardous Materials Response Team with trained Hazmat Technicians that work closely with the Whippany Fire Department Hazmat Team, Picatinny Arsenal Hazmat Team, Morris County Hazmat Team, Morris Township Decon Team, and the Mendham Township Decon Team to serve the residents of Parsippany along with the residents of Morris County. Members are also privileged to receive specialized training for Hazmat within the state of New Jersey and Nevada as well as specialized Flammable Liquids and Foam training in New Jersey and Texas.
